Dr. Mahendra Singh Tanwar is the convener of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), Jodhpur Chapter. INTACH is recognized as one of the world’s largest heritage organizations, with over 200 Chapters across the country, it has pioneered the conservation and preservation of not just natural and built heritage but intangible heritage as well. He is passionate about documentation and research on natural heritage sites including CCAS. He has documented and worked over 100 Orans (CCAS) of the Thar Desert, India. Also, more than 300 heritage monuments have been listed by him, for the interest of conversation of heritage buildings. He has authored as many as 11 books and co-author of another 9 publications on these subjects. He received several medals and awards; ‘Vraksha Bandhu’ Award for conservation works on Water Bodies and Sacred Groves, and Young Scholar Award; to name a few.
